The 500K is a rare version of Tourenwagen, a tourer with two doors and four seats.
Monument of the Mercedes range in the thirties, the 500K was reserved for a very wealthy clientele eager for performance, luxury and exceptional comfort.
The 500K is powered by a supercharged eight-cylinder five-liter, 160 hp, production began in 1934 until 1936 and was produced in 354 units. The letter K does not mean Kurz (short wheelbase) but Kompressor.
The Tourenwagen with its four spacious seats and two doors is built on the normal wheel base of 3.29 meters. Sixteen chassis will be equipped with this body.
The 500K was available in nine different versions: limousine, 4-door sedan, convertible, 2-door coupe, roadster, ...
Only 16 Tourenwagen were produced in all.
There remains little Tourenwagen nowadays, it is a true and rare collection car.
This was recently seen in a bad state, requiring a complete restoration.
